Australia right-handed batter Cameron Bancroft is all set to return to Gloucestershire for the upcoming season of County Cricket 2024. A new chapter is going to be added to Bancroft’s county career. He was also named men’s domestic player of the year in Australian Cricket Award which happened earlier this week.
After David Warner’s retirement, Australian management was looking for an opener who would do justice to that spot but they overlooked Brancroft for that spot. Now through playing County, the Aussie cricketer aims to come back in the Australian Team.
His County Career:
Bancroft previously played County for Gloucestershire in 2016 and 2017 and also was a part of Durham in 2021 and Somerset in 2023. But for this season of the County, he will be back in Gloucestershire. He said, “ I am absolutely delighted to sign with Gloucestershire and to have the chance to return to the club
Where I started my Coiunty career”.
Comeback to Gloucestershire:
Gloucestershire lost players like Ryan Higgins and Benny Howess. Last year they ended their season without a trophy. As per the report, Cameron Bancroft is likely to join the club in April. Before starting the season Bancroft said,” I love playing County cricket and opportunity to play all formats with the club is something I am really excited about. With a new coach and a really talented playing group, I am looking forward to the season ahead”.
Gloucestershire welcomes their new coach Mark Alleyne ahead of the upcoming season. On Bancroft’s arrival, the coach said,” I am really excited to have someone of Cameron’s ability and experience on board for the season to come. We already have an exciting group of players here so to add to that with a player of international calibre in Cameron, it is fantastic for me as a coach to have such depth in the squad.”
