“But you cannot have a knee-jerk reaction” Tom Moody Cautions Against Rushing Mayank Yadav to India’s T20 World Cup Squad

LSG’s young speedster, Mayank Yadav grabbed the limelight with his exceptional technique. The Australian legend Tom Moody made a big prediction on that young bowler.

The T20 World Cup is all set to raise its curtain on June 1. All the teams are preparing hard ahead of the big event. Before that, IPL is working as the rehearsal stage of the World Cup. India’s squad for the T20 World Cup has not been announced yet. Selectors are keeping an eye on the players for the World Cup. 

In this season, LSG’s young bowler Mayank Yadav caught attention by his bowling excellence. Mayank Yadav debuted in the IPL this year against Punjab Kings, featuring in only 3 matches. Impressively, he secured 6 wickets with an economy rate of 6 and a strike rate of 9. Remarkably, Yadav earned the Man of the Match title in his initial 2 IPL appearances. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury thereafter, forcing him out of the LSG side. Despite the setback, Yadav’s early performances showcased his potential and contributed significantly to his team’s success.

After that, the buzz was created over his place in India’s T20 World Cup squad. But the Australian legend Tom Moody made a big remark on him. Moody said, “I’ve loved what I saw for a first couple of games, it was quite extraordinary to the point you want to see the replays of that game. But you cannot have a knee-jerk reaction and pick him in the World Cup, when he has only played two games and got injured.”

Further, he added, “You don’t really know what he’s capable of doing over a long period of time, under pressure and in different roles. Yes, he’s an absolute lock for the future, and look after the asset. For me, it’s the 2026 World Cup you should be looking at (with him).”
