“But it can’t happen every day.” Shahrukh Khan Opened up About Challenges Being a Finisher

IPL, the biggest T20 league in the world is taking steps towards another season. The Auction for the upcoming season is scheduled for December 19 in Dubai. In the retention and release phase, a lot of changes happen. A crucial change happened for the PBKS. The franchise released him ahead of the upcoming IPL season. Recently, he opened up.

Shahrukh Khan’s Words:

Shahrukh Khan is a lower-middle-order batter who played the finisher’s role. In the 2022 season, he was purchased with a massive amount of 9 crore. But his performance didn’t fulfill the expectations. He discussed the batting challenges as a finisher. He said that batting in the lower-middle order against the death bowler is not an easy task.

In an interaction, he said, “People judge you when you can’t get those two sixes at the death. But it can’t happen every day. For bowlers too…for a Natarajan or Bumrah, they can’t be successful all the time. I try to stay till the last ball in the death overs.”

Later he said, “Once you hit 15-20 runs in one over, it feels amazing. When you don’t get them in one game, people think he has failed. But they don’t understand the value of getting 10 runs in 4-5 balls. If you look at T20 matches, that’s what it boils down to.”

More from Him:

Shahrukh Khan is a great finisher at the domestic level. In the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament, he performed exceptionally well. But in the last season, his performance was not up to the mark. But the talented finisher is confident about his skills and performances.

He said, “Power comes naturally to me. I am strongly built so I don’t have to do anything extraordinary. I have the technique to negotiate the good length balls. With my power, I know even mishits can go long. So, I don’t look to complicate it.”

He also talked about his batting strategy. He said, “A lot of bowlers try to bowl the wide yorkers to me. I get doubles but not many boundaries and sixes. When I miss, those are dot balls. But with this tactic, third-man and fine leg are in. If I can develop a ramp shot over fine leg or the keeper, I can outsmart them. I have been working on it in practice matches.”
