Rohit Sharma is away from the T20 format for India after the T20 World Cup 2022. He last played the last semifinal match of that tournament. After that, he has not seen any matches of India. In December, India will play 3 T20 matches against South Africa. For this series, BCCI will try to convince Rohit to lead Team India in that series against Australia.

Virat Kohli asked rest from the white ball format of that series. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will meet Ajit Agarkar to discuss the upcoming series and the squad of the tour. Rohit Sharma led the team in the World Cup exceptionally well. BCCI is impressed by his captaincy in that tournament. This is one of the reasons why BCCI wants Rohit Sharma to lead India in the T20 series against South Africa.

The Squad for the Tour:

The squad is still not announced yet but as per reports, it will be announced soon. The schedule of the tour is very busy. 3 T20 matches and 3 ODI matches will be played in 11 days. Within 5 days, the test match will start. The first test is scheduled for December 26. The Workload will be a big thing. The squad will be announced after thinking about all this convenience.

If Rohit Sharma disagreed with the proposal, BCCI had to think about the other player who can serve the captaincy role. Hardik Pandya was a good option. But the all-rounder faced an injury in the World Cup match against Bangladesh and is out for another month. Suryakumar Yadav is leading Team India in the T20 series against Australia. He is doing a good job. Under his captaincy, India won the first two matches and gave tough competition in the third match. He is a strong contender. Now, the wait continues to know if Rohit Agrees to lead Team India or if BCCI has to look for another captain.
