Bangladesh’s Towhid Hridoy Supports Litton Das Ahead of T20 World Cup

Towhid Hridoy expresses confidence in Litton Das’s ability to regain form before the T20 World Cup.

In a recent statement, Bangladesh’s cricketer Towhid Hridoy expressed his support for fellow team member Litton Das, stating that Das just needs one game to turn around his recent performance slump ahead of the T20 World Cup. Das, a seasoned player for Bangladesh, has been struggling with form, managing only 36 runs in the first three games of the current T20I series against Zimbabwe. Hridoy, however, remains optimistic about Das’s capabilities, citing his strong record with the white ball and his previous performances for Bangladesh.

“We have to keep faith,” said Hridoy, emphasizing the importance of confidence in Das’s abilities.

Despite Das’s recent struggles, Hridoy highlighted that the batsman’s strike rate still ranks among the top three in Bangladesh, indicating his potential to bounce back. Hridoy acknowledged that every player goes through rough patches and expressed hope that Das, along with other struggling batters, will soon find their form.

Hridoy said

Look no one willingly plays badly. Litton and other top-order batters are trying to give their best. A good player will not always play well. In the recent past there have been lots of talks regarding Litton bhai’s strike rate but if you check you will find his strike rate is still among the top three in Bangladesh,” Hridoy said as quoted by ICC.

“No matter whether you are the best batter in the world, you will not play well in all the matches or series. I am hoping those who are not among runs will get back to runs soon. In one game if he does good, he will make a comeback and he can change the scenario in a big game. We have to keep the faith and it will not help if we lose the faith.”

Looking ahead to the T20 World Cup, where Bangladesh is set to face Sri Lanka in their first match, Hridoy expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparation. He believes that the ongoing series against Zimbabwe and the upcoming matches in the USA and the West Indies will provide the team with valuable experience and momentum going into the tournament.

Hridoy’s comments come as Bangladesh is yet to announce their 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, with Das expected to be a key player if selected. Bangladesh is grouped in Group D for the tournament and will also face South Africa, the Netherlands, and Nepal in their quest for a spot in the Super 8s.
