Bad news for SRH fans, star all-rounder ruled out due to hamstring injury

Sunrisers Hyderabad have suffered a major setback as spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to a hamstring injury. SRH announced Sundar’s exclusion on Twitter, wishing him a speedy recovery. The all-rounder had put in an impressive performance with both bat and ball against DC, claiming 3/28 and scoring 24 runs off 15 balls. However, despite his efforts, SRH lost the match.

Sundar had played seven matches for Sunrisers this season, scoring 60 runs from five innings and taking three wickets overall. Unfortunately, his team is currently in ninth place on the table, having struggled in the tournament so far.

An injury-laden history

Washington Sundar’s recent injury in the IPL 2023 marks the third straight season that he has been interrupted by injuries. In the 2021 season, he was ruled out of the UAE leg of the tournament due to a finger injury after taking three wickets for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first half of the season. Unfortunately, his fortunes did not improve as he was forced to miss the ODI leg of India’s tour of South Africa in January 2022 after testing positive for Covid-19. A hamstring injury also kept him out of the three-match T20I series at home against West Indies.

During the IPL 2022 season, Sundar missed four games due to a split webbing in his bowling hand after being signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last August, he injured his left shoulder while fielding for Lancashire during a county stint and was subsequently ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe. It’s clear that Washington Sundar has had a challenging time with injuries, and it’s unfortunate that he has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2023 due to a hamstring injury. We can only hope that he makes a speedy recovery and is able to return to cricket soon.
