“At least could have kept him in the squad.” Former Indian All-rounder Backs Indian Spinner Ahead of the World Cup

It is just a week to start the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. It is the final time for some last time preparation and checking. All teams are geared up and ready to conquer. All teams released their 15-member World Cup squad. Every team has the potential to name the trophy. India has released their 15-member squad too. Surprisingly Yuzvendra Chahal is not included in the team. Some experts find it shocking. Former all-rounder Yuvraj Singh addressed Chahal’s exclusion as a mistake.

Yuvraj Singh’s comment:

Yuzvendra Chahal has not been named in India’s World Cup squad. The former Indian all-rounder addressed it as a mistake. In an interaction, he said, “ Leaving out Yuzvendra Chahal could be a mistake, could be a worry. At least could have kept him in the squad. A leg-spinner is someone who will always take wickets for you. Kuldeep is doing fantastic. But Chahal could have been dangerous on turning tracks and slower wickets. Hardik giving you the balance of the third seamer, you could have picked Yuzvendra Chahal.”

He also added, “Jasprit Bumrah coming back is good because something was missing in that department. I had some concerns before the Asia Cup due to injuries. Winning the Asia Cup due to injuries. Winning the Asia Cup doesn’t guarantee that you will win the World Cup. However, it shows that India is in good form.

Chahal’s ODI career:

Yuzvendra Chahal made his ODI debut back in 2016 against Zimbabwe in Harare. He is one of the most successful spinner of India in ODI format. He played 72 ODI matches and took 121 wickets. His best bowling figure is 6/42. He took important wickets for India in international matches. He can turn the ball according to the situation. He took his second five-wicket haul against Australia. This is the best figure by an Indian spinner at MCG in Australia. In the 2019 World Cup, Yuzi took 12 wickets.

India will play this edition without Chahal. This might be a difference. But other than that India has a very strong side. The team is in a good rhythm. They won the Asia Cup by a massive 10-wicket win. After that, they won the three-match series against Australia by 2-0. This time India is hosting the World Cup. Last time when it was organized by India, they became the World Champion. This time India has a good chance to be in the finale. Otherwise, on November 19, a new world champion will be declared.
