Adelaide Strikers Improve Draft Position, Trade Wes Agar To Sydney Thunder

As former NSW and Australian Bowler Trent Copeland assumes his role as the General Manager for Sydney Thunder, he makes his first move by trading in West Agar from Adelaide Strikers.

Agar had notably been the best player for Adelaide Strikers in the 2020-21 season. After eight seasons with the Strikers, Agar is moving to Thunder. After being a crucial member of their assault in previous seasons, he only appeared in four games last year. Thunder and Strikers exchanged second-round selections in the deal.

Strikers to recieve Thunder’s early pick in round 2

In the second round, Sydney Thunders will obtain the later pick from the draft lottery, while Adelaide Strikers will receive Thunder’s early pick (the precise pick number will be revealed later in the year). Because they finished eighth in the previous season, Thunder will receive an earlier draft pick, while Strikers, who finished third, will receive a later pick.

Copeland calls Agar one of BBL’s “most likeable guys”

In a statement about West Agar, the former NSW and Australian Bowler Trent Copeland said: “He’s a proven performer in this format, and one of the Big Bash’s most likeable guys”

“We want to bring in players who will ultimately perform and win games for the club, but it’s also vitally important for us to attract good people who want to be a part of what we are building here.” He added.

On Wes’s decision to leave Adelaide, Shaun Adams, the strikers’ understanding General Manager said, “We understand Wes’ desire for a fresh opportunity at the Sydney Thunder, and wish him all the best with the move,” he said. “We are pleased we were able to improve our draft position as part of this trade ahead of the BBL 14 draft later this year.”
