Abdul Razzaq criticizes Shoaib Malik of Selfish Play in PSL

Former cricketer Abdul Razzaq has accused his former teammate Shoaib Malik of selfish play during the Karachi Kings’ match against Multan Sultans in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). Razzaq criticized Malik for playing well but only for himself, without considering the team’s interests.

In the match, Multan Sultans batted first and posted 185 runs, with Dawid Malan scoring 52 and Reeza Hendricks hitting an unbeaten 79 off 54 balls. Karachi Kings, in response, lost wickets quickly, making the chase challenging. However, Malik, batting at number four, scored 53 off 35 balls, trying to control the situation.

Razzaq expressed disappointment in Malik’s strike rate, suggesting that in ideal batting conditions, Malik should have accelerated the scoring. “A player is someone who plays for a team,” Razzaq remarked, highlighting his belief that individual performances should benefit the team’s goals.

In the same match, Karachi Kings’ skipper Shan Masood scored 30 runs, and Kieron Pollard, fresh off winning the recently concluded ILT20, made 28 off 29 balls. However, Karachi Kings struggled, and Multan Sultans won by 55 runs.

Karachi Kings, who failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last two seasons, will need significant improvement. On the other hand, Multan Sultans, who lost in the finals in the past two seasons, are determined to perform well. Led by Mohammad Rizwan, they have strengthened their middle order and have quality pacers, aiming for a successful season.
