AB de Villiers chooses Sarfaraz Khan as an ideal replacement for KL Rahul

The 5-match Test series which is going on between India and England is raising the standards of both the teams. The first test match happened in Hyderabad and ended with England’s victory. Although the Indian squad performed well, luck wasn’t on their side. The Captain is pretty much confident to score their first win in the 2nd match which begins tomorrow in Visakhapatnam. Unfortunately, India’s most dependable all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, and the opening batsman, KL Rahul have been ruled out due to injuries and the absence of Virat Kohli has also impacted the team. This has become a major concern for the Indian batting lineup. The team has found two replacements- Sarfaraz Khan and Rajat Patidar.

ABD’s thoughts on how India should approach England’s bowlers:

The former South Africa captain, AB de Villiers, on his YouTube channel, stated which batsman would be more preferred at this moment between Patidar and Sarfaraz as the replacement for the India squad. He says Sarfaraz should get a chance due to his outstanding performance in recent years. He had played 66 innings bagging 3912 runs at an average of 69.85 with 14 hundreds and 11 fifties.

Sarfaraz’s remarkable performance in domestic cricket :

Sarfaraz has been scoring a lot of runs in the Ranji Trophy since 2019 bagging up 928 runs from 9 innings at an average of 154.66 with three hundreds and two fifties in the 2019-20 season. In the 2020-2021 Ranji Trophy, he scored 982 runs and in 2021-2022 he scored 556 runs with an average of 92.66 which is phenomenal. Sarfaraz Khan became the youngest player to play IPL in 2015 at the age of 17.

ABD said, “ It’s just very exciting for me. His record in first-class cricket is quite outstanding, and if there’s a guy that deserves it, it’s certainly him. He further added “That is a very, very good first-class record. I know it’s a big jump up to international cricket against England, on the biggest stage, I hope he gets a chance because Rajat Patidar has also been playing well, both have been scoring centuries” said de Villiers.

Both Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan played alongside ABD in the Indian Premier League for RCB. The Indian fans are eagerly waiting for their team to play well and win the series as this helps them in the long run to WTC.
