When he played for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, the West Indian all-rounder blazed a trail. In Quinton de Kock’s absence, Mayers started the batting alongside skipper KL Rahul. He hit two boundaries and seven sixes while scoring 73 runs off of 38 balls. With his performance against Delhi Capitals, he became the fourth-highest-scoring debutant in IPL history and contributed to LSG’s easy 50-run victory. Since then, he has been a consistent performer for Lucknow Super Giants. He has a touch of Gayle in his batting the way he hits down the ground and through the off side. He has played so well, that South African wicketkeeper batter Quinton De Kock had to be benched.
