2017 has been a year of run-fests. Throughout the year, we witnessed so many high-scoring games that show that the modern-day cricket has turned heavily in the favor of the batsmen. To be precise, a total of 50 scores of 300+ were made by teams in ODI cricket which is a massive number.
Team India, which had a superlative run this year, accounted for the highest score of the year. The men in blue scored 392/4 batting first in Mohali in December that was the top score of the year. Rohit Sharma was the scriptwriter of that total as he notched up his third ODI double hundred in that game.
India also features 4 times on the list of top 10 ODI totals of the year. The Virat Kohli-led side managed to accumulate totals of 350+ 4 times and the South African side also achieved the same milestone. Additionally, India and England scored totals of 300 or more 10 times this year.
South Africa holds the second highest total of the year when they made 384/6 against Sri Lanka at the start of the year. The 3rd and the 4th slots are occupied by India. Yuvraj Singh’s 150 and MS Dhoni’s 134 turned back the clock against England in Cuttack as India piled on 381/6 in January. The 375/5 against Sri Lanka in Colombo saw Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma notching up masterful hundreds.
