Suresh Raina lauds ‘hard working’ Dhruv Jurel

Former India cricketer Suresh Raina recently praised Indian youngster Dhruv Jurel for his outstanding performance against England in the fourth Test, which helped India out of a difficult situation. Jurel scored a resilient 90 in the first innings and an unbeaten 39 in challenging conditions, showcasing his talent and class.

Raina was particularly impressed with Jurel’s wicket-keeping, noting that he has worked very hard. Coming from an Army family, Jurel has a fearless attitude and a strong determination not to lose, which Raina believes has contributed to his success.

“I was impressed with his (Jurel’s) wicket-keeping; he has worked really hard. He comes from an Army family, so he has that fearless attitude of never wanting to lose anything from anywhere,” Raina said.

Raina also highlighted the role of Rohit Sharma in giving opportunities to young players like Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel. He praised Rohit’s captaincy, especially in a crucial Test match where the pitch conditions were challenging.

“I have played a couple of matches with him (Jurel) for Uttar Pradesh. Special credit to Rohit Sharma, the way he gave chances to first Sarfaraz (Khan) and Dhruv Jurel. It is not easy to come into Test cricket and score back-to-back fifties, especially in a crucial Test match where the wicket was turning,” Raina added.

Looking ahead to the upcoming edition of the IPL, Raina expressed his wish for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to win the title. He believes that Virat Kohli, who has worked hard, deserves to lift the trophy this year.

“I wish Virat Kohli and RCB lift the trophy. It is long overdue now, CSK won it last season too but this year I hope that the team who has never lifted the trophy should finally add one to their trophy cabinet. Virat has worked really hard and I think he deserves to win this time,” Raina said.
