RR vs LSG IPL 2024 Match Halted Due to Spidercam Malfunction

The IPL 2024 match between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants faced an unusual interruption at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Just two balls into the game, the match was halted for nearly seven minutes due to a malfunction with the spidercam.

The incident occurred in the opening over of the match after LSG’s Mohsin Khan started the attack, conceding a single to Rajasthan opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. Suddenly, play was stopped as the wire of the spidercam snapped and fell onto the outfield, causing a delay in the game.

Engineers rushed onto the field to remove the wire and rectify the situation. Former cricketer Rohan Gavaskar, who was in the commentary box, confirmed the issue, stating, “Spidercam has snapped and come down.”

After the seven-minute delay, play resumed with Naveen-ul-Haq of LSG dismissing the dangerous Jos Buttler in just the second over of the match.

Earlier in the day, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bat first, expressing confidence in his team’s batting lineup and the pitch conditions. Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, named Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and Naveen-ul-Haq as their four overseas players.

KL Rahul, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants, also commented on the match, stating, “We would have batted first as well, but the wicket does look good. I’m happy to be back on the field, injury has become my best friend over the last couple of years, but it makes you hungry and perform much better when you’re back.”

Despite the interruption, cricket fans are eagerly following the match, which promises to be an exciting contest between the two teams. Stay tuned for more updates on the IPL 2024 season.
