“Would have been nice to have one more bowling option” says Sanju Samson
Addressing the audience at the post-match segment, RR captain Sanju Samson rued on the team’s loss. He added that the team might have needed another bowler.
“We needed a few more runs. I think we were 10-15 runs short. It was a 160 kind of a wicket. We would have easily got more than 160 (had we played better), that’s where we lost the game. Would have been nice to have one more bowling option. I am getting used to five quality bowlers.” said Samson
Additionally, he also accepted that the team has been failing to deliver recently, and they need to figure out what is not working for the team.
“We have to sit back and accept that we are going through failures, have lost four games on the trot. Got to find out what’s not working out for us as a team. Somebody needs to step up, we have so many match-winners in the team. This is the time we need to show character.” He added.
RR qualifies for playoffs, Samson hopes they win next matches
With this, Rajasthan Royals has qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs.
The team that was ruling the number 1 spot om the points table for so long, might lost that spot if the players do not come back in form. Their form has completely gone downhill in the last couple of weeks with this being their fourth consecutive defeat
At 16 points, RR holds the second spot on the table, but they might not be the second team to finish, SRH is likely to surpass RR if they win their next fixtures.
Being hopeful about the team’s games, Sanju Samson said, “ We need to score more runs. We thought 160-170 would have been a good score. We are not used to playing on such wickets this season where 200-plus totals are getting scored easily. We had to play smart cricket and build those partnerships today. Hopefully the result goes in our way (in the upcoming games.)”
