Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill was involved in several heated arguments with the match officials on Friday. During GT’s match against SRH, Gill was seen having animated chats with the umpires when things did not go in GT’s favour.

Gill was unable to control his emotions during the match and displayed his displeasure on several occasions. However, he did not budge and stuck to his stance even after the match.

The Controversy

During the first innings, Gill was declared run out by the third umpire. He was not too happy about this decision, as it was a close call with Klaasen’s gloves extremely close to the bails.

Gill was not impressed with the decision and showed his annoyance with the third umpire. After this controversial run-out, Shubman was seen talking to the fourth umpire near the Gujarat dugout.

Later in the second innings, another disagreement took place between Gill and the match officials. On the 4th ball of the 14th over, Prasidh Krishna delivered a perfect yorker, and Abhishek Sharma got hit on the pads.

GT went for review, and the replay showed that the impact was the umpire’s call, and so Abhishek was safe. Gill was again not pleased with the decision and was seen arguing with the on-field umpires.

Shubman Stood his Stance

During the post-match presentation, Gill was asked about altercations with the match officials. He admitted that his emotions ran high during the match, but he stuck to his stance and said that everyone shows emotions when they are on the field, giving their all.

“There was a little bit of a discussion with me and the umpire, sometimes there are so many emotions involved as you give your 110 percent, there are bound to be some emotions,” Shubman said.

“Definitely didn’t plan that (on playing just 22 dot balls in 20 overs). The only conversation was let’s try to play Gujarat Titans, the game we have been playing so far. The black soil pitch is not easy to hit sixes, but the way Sai, Jos, and I play, I think we have an understanding of how to keep the scoreboard ticking,” he said.
