Fans will be delighted as two of the most favourite teams clash against each other for the 20th match of the season. The Mumbai Indians will face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, April 7.
MI have won only one game so far, losing three. Known for starting slow in the tournament, this is not new for the franchise. MI started the season with a loss against the Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk. Mumbai Indians set up a target of 156 against the team in yellow. CSK, in reply, chased the target with 4 wickets in hand in the last over. In their second match, MI suffered a defeat against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
GT scored an impressive total of 196 for 8 in 20 overs. In reply, MI were restricted to 160, losing the game by 36 runs. MI found their way to victory in their third game. They defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders in a one-sided game. After bowling out KKR for just 116 runs at the Wankhede, it was a formality for MI to cross the line. They reached the target in 12.5 overs with 8 wickets in hand. However, MI lost the next game against LSG. LSG set up a target of 204 runs, but MI could muster only 191. They lost the match by 12 runs.
RCB have had a different season so far. In the three matches they have played, they have won 2 and lost one. They started the tournament with two matches away. First, against the defending champions KKR and the next was against 5-time champions CSK. RCB won both the games handsomely.
They defeated KKR by chasing down the target of 175 in just 16.2 overs. Against CSK, they scored 196 runs and then went on to restrict CSK to just 146, winning the match by 50 runs. However, when they returned to Bengaluru, they lost against the Gujarat Titans. RCB set up a target of 170 against GT. The latter won the game with 8 wickets in hand and 2.1 overs to spare.
