Speaking to JioHotstar ahead of the big clash, the talismanic batter said, “I would say one team that, historically, I’ve felt we’ve had the most intense games with is Chennai Super Kings in Bengaluru.”

He emphasized the unique atmosphere that CSK fans bring to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. “In Chennai, of course, there are Chennai fans—it’s just yellow and CSK fans everywhere. But to play against CSK in Bengaluru is something else. CSK fans travel in huge numbers, so they buy tickets very early and take over a section of the stadium,” Kohli noted.

The last time these two teams met at this venue in IPL 2024, RCB edged out CSK by 27 runs in a thrilling encounter that secured them a playoff spot. Earlier this season, RCB also defeated CSK by 50 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, marking a dominant head-to-head performance so far in 2025.

Kohli Recalls Inaugural Season Memories

Kohli reflected on his long IPL journey, tracing it back to the inaugural edition in 2008. “The first year was exciting in terms of unexpected things happening. We hadn’t played a lot of T20 cricket, and franchise cricket allowed us to play with players we looked up to,” he said.

He recalled the moment he and other young players were picked for Rs 20 lakh during the auction in Kuala Lumpur. “We went crazy in the corridor—‘We got Rs 20 lakh!’ It was surreal,” Kohli said with a smile.
