Mitchell Starc or Shaheen Afridi: Whom would Rohit choose to face? Find out the answer here

In the world of cricket, decision-making on the field often determines the outcome of matches. But what happens when the captain himself faces a series of challenging choices off the pitch? Indian cricket team’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, recently found himself in a playful yet tricky spot when asked to make a series of selections in an Instagram reel posted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday, August 13.

Rohit’s diplomatic approach in answering questions

Rohit Sharma, known for his calm demeanour and remarkable batting prowess, was presented with a set of intriguing options, starting with a question that would strike at the heart of every Indian cricket fan – choosing between India’s victorious World Cup campaigns in 1983 and 2011. With a thoughtful smile, Sharma diplomatically replied, “It’s a tough one, honestly. I would prefer both actually.” A diplomatic response, perhaps, to pay homage to both iconic moments that shaped India’s cricketing history.

The challenge escalated as Rohit was confronted with a conundrum involving two exceptional left-arm fast bowlers – Australia’s Mitchell Starc and Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi. Tasked with choosing between them, Sharma defied expectations and gracefully side-stepped the dilemma. “None. Both are quality, quite threatening with the new ball, can swing the ball quite fast. So I would say none,” he quipped, acknowledging the prowess of both bowlers.

Rohit’s love for the pull shot

In the realm of batting, Rohit Sharma’s preference was unwavering as he enthusiastically chose the pull shot over the cover drive – a shot that has become synonymous with his own explosive style at the crease.

However, the amusement continued as ICC posed a question that delved into the dynamics of team camaraderie – picking a teammate to share the team bus with. The contenders were Ishan Kishan and Yuzvendra Chahal, both renowned for their prankster personas within the Indian team. Sharma’s response, though, revealed his quest for tranquillity before a game. “None because before I go to the game, I want calm, I want peace, and none of these guys bring any of those, so none.”

As the lighthearted challenge concluded, Sharma’s choices offered an interesting glimpse into his preferences beyond the boundary. Opting for waking up early over staying up late at night and favouring a pacer over a spinner, Rohit Sharma’s responses showcased his candid nature and his knack for maintaining equipoise.
