A month after the 23-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal asked for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to switch from Mumbai to Goa, the cricketer has reversed his decision.

The opening batter has written an email to the Mumbai Cricket Association to withdraw his NOC. He stated that he is available to play for Mumbai next domestic season.

In April, Jaiswal requested an NOC from the Mumbai Cricket Association to move to Goa. He stated that personal reasons were behind his decision to move. If Jaiswal had gone to Goa, he would’ve joined Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad. They are also Mumbai players who have represented Goa.

What Led to The U-Turn

Jaiswal sent an email to MCA, saying that his earlier decision was due to his family’s plans to move to Goa. Now that the plans have changed, he would like to continue playing for Mumbai.

“I, the undersigned, would request your goodself to consider my request in withdrawing my NOC given to me as I had some family plans in shifting to Goa, which for now has been curtailed! So I sincerely request MCA to allow me to play for Mumbai this season! I have not submitted the NOC to BCCI nor to the Goa Cricket Association,” Jaiswal wrote in an email to MCA.

Jaiswal stated that getting a leadership role was the reason for making the switch from Mumbai to Goa.

Jaiswal’s Cricket Journey

At the age of 11, Jaiswal moved from Suriyawan in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi to Mumbai to pursue cricket. He has represented India since his U-19 days and broke the headlines with his double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. His performance in the series led to his selection in the national team and an IPL contract with the Rajasthan Royals.

The Indian opener Jaiswal had a splendid start to his test career and was the best Indian batsman during the Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2024. He scored a century and two half-centuries in the series.

During the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he amassed 391 runs in five Tests at an average of 43.44.
