IPL 2024 Schedule

The biggest festival of Indian Cricket, the Indian Premier League 2024 will start on 22 March 2024. It consists of 10 teams, with 7 home and 7 away games played by each team. The teams in the top 4 will qualify for the playoffs. 

There had been discussions that the second half of the IPL 2024 will be held in Dubai due to Elections in India. However, BCCI clarified that the whole IPL season will be held in India only. BCCI is yet to announce the full schedule of the IPL 2024. They have declared half schedule as of now. BCCI will soon roll out the full schedule as the election dates are announced. 

The first 21 matches of IPL 2024 feature four double-headers, with two scheduled on the opening weekend. The action kicks off on Saturday afternoon with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) facing off against the Delhi Capitals (DC). This will be followed by an evening match between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The excitement continues on Sunday afternoon in Jaipur, where the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will take on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Moreover, The weekend concludes with a clash between last year’s finalists and the 2022 champions, the Gujarat Titans (GT), and the five-time winners, the Mumbai Indians (MI), on Sunday night. Additionally, the evening Games will start at 7:30 PM while the afternoon games will start at 3:30 PM.

When will IPL 2024 start?

The 17th edition of the TATA IPL 2024 will kickstart on 22nd March between the 5-time IPL Champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Cheapuak Stadium in Chennai at 7:30 PM IST. 

When is the Final of the IPL 2024? 

The Final of IPL 2024 will be take place on 26th May 2024 possibly at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The venue of the Final is yet to be announced by the BCCI.

IPL 2024 Groups

IPL 2023 is divided into 2 groups of 5 teams each. In IPL 2024, the teams are divided into two groups, and the format includes:

• Teams play the teams in their group once
• Teams play the teams in the other group twice (home and away)
• Results from all matches form one table

The playoffs consist of:

• First-place team from one group plays the second-place team from the other group for a place in the final
• Third and fourth-place teams play, with the loser eliminated
• Winner of the third and fourth-place match faces the loser of the first playoff for the second final place

The first group consists of Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and the Lucknow Super Giants (Group A). On the other hand, Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalorewill be in the second group. (Group B)
