BCCI Names Yudhvir Singh as Manager for England Test Series

Yudhvir Singh has been appointed as the team manager of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming Test series. India will face England in a five-match Test series starting June 20, with Shubman Gill as captain and Rishabh Pant as vice-captain.

Yudhvir Singh’s Appointment

Yudhvir Singh, a veteran administrator from the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, has been named the manager of the Indian cricket team for its forthcoming tour of England. Sources within the BCCI confirmed the appointment.

Yudhvir has formerly held the roles of secretary and director within the organisation. He offers a background of experience to his new position as team manager.

Squad for the upcoming England tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the test squad for the England tour on May 24. The board appointed 25-year-old batter Shubman Gill as the 37th captain of the Indian Test Cricket team. Having captained India in T20Is and led the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, Gill brings valuable leadership experience.

The selectors picked Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair as replacements for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Dhruv Jurel were retained in the squad.

Veteran pacer Mohammed Shami was not named in the squad due to fitness concerns. The pace bowling attack will be led by Jasprit Bumrah, accompanied by Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Prasidh Krishna. Kuldeep Yadav is the specialist spinner, while Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar are spin-all-rounders. Nitish Reddy is the only fast bowling all-rounder in the squad.
