Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya have been fined by the BCCI following the Qualifier 2 on Sunday. Both Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians were penalised for maintaining a slow over rate.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has taken strict action on both PBKS and MI. Both captains were found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The two teams maintained a slow over rate, therefore both Iyer and Hardik were fined.

Slow over rate costs Iyer

This is the second time Punjab Kings were found guilty of keeping a slow-over rate. So, Iyer has been given a penalty to pay a fine of INR 24 lakh.

“As it was his team’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Iyer was fined INR 24 lakhs,” the BCCI said in an official release.

“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” the statement added.

INR 30 lakh for Pandya for third-time offence

As for Mumbai Indians, this is the third time they were found guilty of maintaining a slow-over rate. This is the reason MI skipper Hardik Pandya was fined INR 30 lakh. This is the maximum amount that any captain had to pay as a fine this season.

“As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 30 Lakh,” the BCCI release stated.

“The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 12 Lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser,” the BCCI said.

Talking about Qualifier 2, Punjab Kings won the match by chasing 204 with five wickets to spare. They will now face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the ultimate showdown on Tuesday, June 3 in Ahmedabad.
