The Indian Premier League 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings began with a tribute to the Indian Armed Forces. The IPL honoured Operation Sindoor through a special performance during the closing ceremony.
The IPL recognised the country’s security forces’ efforts to keep the nation safe and dedicated special performances to them. The league showed its solidarity through a musical and visual presentation.
Before the ultimate showdown at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the IPL paid a heartfelt tribute to the IAF. During the IPL 2025 closing ceremony, a video was played showing the courage and commitment of the Indian forces. The video drew applause and cheers from the crowd.
After the video, Indian singer Shankar Mahadevan performed on stage with other artists. His two sons, Siddharth and Shivam Mahadevan, also joined him on the stage. He sang patriotic songs like “Main rahu ya na rahu, Bharat yeh rehna chahiye” and “Maa Tujhe Salaam.”
Former cricketer Harsha Bhogle addressed the crowd, pointing out the bravery and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces. This was followed by a dance performance and unfurling of the Tricolour flag. This prompted chants of Jai Hind in the stadium, reflecting unity and national pride among the audience.
Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Both teams went in with the same playing XI as their last matches.
Neither Royal Challengers Bengaluru nor Punjab Kings have ever claimed the IPL title trophy. Both teams are playing the final intending to end the 18-year wait for a title win
