Gill Breaks Silence on Alleged Ego Clash with Hardik Pandya

Gujarat Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill has cleared the air around the ‘ego clash’ with Mumbai Indians’ captain Hardik Pandya. Speculations rose after the toss in the GT vs MI fixture on Friday.

Shubman Gill has snubbed all talk of a conflict with Hardik Pandya following their clash in the IPL 2025 Eliminator. The intense match in Mullanpur resulted in MI narrowly defeating GT to reach Qualifier 2.

What happened between Hardik and Gill?

Talks of the rift between the two skippers started during the toss. When Hardik extended his hand for a handshake, Gill seemed to ignore it. Although a moment earlier, Gill also appeared to have offered his hand. Hardik then continued with the post-toss interview without the handshake.

Coming to the real action, the MI skipper took Gill’s wicket and did not hold back in his celebration. He ran past Gill, shouting “Come on!” as his teammates surrounded him, celebrating the dismissal. The moment quickly took over the internet, sparking rumours of an ‘ego clash’ between the two.

Gill Clears the Air

Several users on social media turned the moment into a personal clash between the two Indian teammates. However, the GT captain has slammed the rumours. He posted two pictures of himself and Hardik on Instagram, writing: “Nothing but love (Don’t believe everything you see on the internet).”

Hardik reposted Gill’s Instagram story, denying all the rumours of a rift. The two players go way back as they took Gujarat to a title win in their debut IPL season (2022).
