Dewald Brevis has returned home to South Africa after the suspension of IPL 2025. He shared an emotional farewell to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and their fans. Brevis joined CSK as an injury replacement for Gurjapneet Singh during the mid-season. Even though he played only a few matches, he left a strong impression on fans and the team.
On Instagram, Brevis posted a thank-you note. He shared pictures of his time in the CSK jersey and thanked his teammates, coaches, and fans.
“A big thank you to my Chennai team, coaches, support staff and our amazing Chennai fans. The atmosphere at the Chepauk Stadium was electrifying,” Brevis wrote.
The South African said that the time he spent in India will always be special. He also promised to return soon.
Brevis played 4 matches for CSK. He scored 126 runs at a strike rate of 163.63. His best performance came against Kolkata Knight Riders, where he scored a quick 50 runs in just 22 balls. In one over from Vaibhav Arora, he hit 30 runs, which brought the crowd to its feet.
Even though CSK did not have a great season, Brevis was one of their bright spots. CSK won only 3 out of their 12 matches and are already out of the playoff race.
Many believe that CSK might retain Brevis for IPL 2026. His fearless batting and confidence under pressure caught everyone’s eye. CSK is known for backing young talent, and Brevis might be a big part of their plans moving forward.
As the IPL 2025 remains suspended due to rising political tensions, players like Brevis are returning home early. But for CSK fans, his short stay brought moments of joy and hope for the future.
