The IPL 2025 has been suspended for one week due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. But Sourav Ganguly, former BCCI president, believes the tournament will be completed.

Ganguly said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is strong and knows how to handle tough situations. He remembered how he also had to pause the IPL in 2021 because of COVID-19, but the board managed to finish it later.

“I have seen today that the IPL is suspended for 7 days. The BCCI will complete this. BCCI is efficient. During COVID, it was another emergency. I am sure the BCCI will complete it. A COVID-like situation is different. BCCI will work as per Indian government guidelines,” Ganguly told India Today.

BCCI may consult government and find a way

Ganguly said the BCCI will work with the Indian government to find a safe way to continue the tournament. He believes the board will do everything in the right manner.

“The BCCI will complete this. BCCI is efficient.”

Ganguly praises Indian armed forces

Sourav Ganguly also praised the Indian Army for their courage during hard times. He said they keep the country safe and deserve respect.

“Jawans are our pride not because of the war but what they do day in and day out. We are here in peace for them.”

Young players shine in IPL 2025

Ganguly talked about how young cricketers are doing well this season. He mentioned Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi as some of the rising stars.

“For the last 18 years, talent has been emerging from the IPL. Punjab opener Priyansh Arya, Suryavanshi, and Prabhsimran Singh played brilliantly. The IPL is one of the best cricket tournaments in the world,” Ganguly said.

Fans are now waiting for updates about the restart of IPL 2025. Reports say that the ECB has offered to host the remaining matches in England if needed.
