‘Would’ve Liked More Fifties’: Rohit Sharma Reflects on Mixed IPL Season

Mumbai Indians’ star batter Rohit Sharma has commented on his up and down season in IPL 2025. He admitted that he would have liked to score more half-centuries.

Mumbai Indians defeated Gujarat Titans on Friday, keeping their title expectations alive. MI’s former captain Rohit Sharma made most of his opportunity in the Eliminator, scoring an incredible 81 off 50 knock in Mullanpur. He stepped up in a must win situation and helped Mumbai post a total of 228 on the scoreboard.

‘I got lucky…’

Following MI’s win, Rohit reflected on his performance this season and commented that he would’ve liked to do more.

“I have got only four fifties. I would have definitely liked to score more. It was a good day for us as a team. I do understand the importance of playing this Eliminator, going through this and taking the next step forward. Really proud of a complete team effort,” said Rohit Sharma at the post-match presentation.

In the Eliminator, Rohit got a bit lucky as during the powerplay Kusal Perera and Gerald Coetzee missed two easy catches.

“To be honest, I have played those shots before in the tournament and unfortunately, I have found fielders. Somewhere down the line, you got to be lucky, and today was that day for me. I got lucky as those catches were dropped. But even after that, you got to play. I was focusing on keeping the momentum and tempo going,” he added.

Mumbai Indians Still in the Race

Opting to bat first, Mumbai Indians scored a huge total of 228. The five-time champions defended their score by restricting Gujarat Titans to 208/6. They will now face Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 on June 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already qualified for the final scheduled for June 3.
