The International Cricket Council has announced the venues and dates for the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup. The tournament will be held across five venues in India and Sri Lanka.
The 2025 Women’s World Cup will be played from September 30 to November 2. The ICC listed Bengaluru, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Indore in India, as well as Colombo in Sri Lanka, as venues for the tournament.
The full schedule for the tournament hasn’t been released yet. However, Pakistan will play their matches in Colombo as it is a neutral venue. The BCCI and PCB agreed on the hybrid model, as Pakistan will not travel to India to play cricket.
Earlier during the 2025 Men’s Champions Trophy, India played their matches in Dubai instead of the host country, Pakistan. This led to tensions between the two nations, with PCB stating that Pakistani players would not travel to India for future tournaments.
The first match of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup will be played in Bengaluru at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. It will also hold the second semi-final on October 30. The first semi-final will be played in Guwahati or Colombo, depending on whether Pakistan qualifies. The final will be played on November 3, either in Bengaluru or Colombo, for the same reasons.
For the first time since 2013, India is hosting the Women’s ODI World Cup. The format of the tournament will have each of the eight teams playing the other in a round robin format. The top four teams will go further to the semi-finals. A total of 31 matches will be played.
The eight teams that will feature in the tournament are India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Every team except Pakistan and Bangladesh qualified directly, while the two team sealed their spots at the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers in Lahore.
