Tanay Tiwari Says Rohit Sharma Saved His Career: ‘Jaane de yaar, baccha hai’

IPL presenter Tanay Tiwari narrated a story where Rohit Sharma helped him early in his career. He revealed how the senior batter saved his career during his intern days with Mumbai Indians.

Rohit Sharma, although competitive and serious on the field, is known for his relaxed and playful demeanor off field. An instance of the calm side of Rohit was revealed by social media content creator, Tanay Tiwari. Tiwari has previously worked closely with the Mumbai Indians and the Indian national team.

Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, he narrated an incident that happened during his intern days involving Rohit Sharma.

“When I was an intern with Mumbai Indians, I accidentally spilled hot coffee on him. I was interviewing him and it was a really small table, with a camera, and in a rush I spilled the coffee,” explained Tiwari.

“There was someone there from his team with him, and she really scolded me a lot, a lot. And I was 21 in 2017. I was about to cry, I was thinking my career was over even before it began.”

However, Rohit Sharma came to Tiwari’s rescue in that.

“He was like, ‘Jaane de yaar, baccha hai (let it go, he’s a kid.) You ask your question, it’s only coffee that has spilled, don’t worry.’ He saved my career then.”

Since then, Tiwari has built his career in cricket presenting, with nearly 500,000 followers on Instagram. He also has a role on JioHotstar’s coverage of the IPL and the Indian national team.

“Quite a few times [I’ve told him]. I met him and couldn’t say anything except thank you. I told him Rohitbhai, you probably don’t know how much happiness you’ve given to how many different people. He was like ‘Arey yaar, aaja yaar (Come here),’” explained Tiwari, miming a hug.
