Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina believes that this could be RCB’s year to win the Indian Premier League 2025. He stated that the Rajat Patidar-led team is unmatched this season and will go all the way.
Suresh Raina has backed Royal Challengers Bengaluru to win the league. The three-time finalists have been incredible this season, winning 8 out of 11 matches. They are currently on the second spot in the points table, needing just one win to qualify for playoffs.
Raina credited RCB’s bowling for their success in the league this season. He also mentioned Bengaluru’s two wins over CSK under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, calling it a significant achievement.
RCB is yet to win an IPL title. They played the final three times, but lost every time. Raina believes that this might be the year RCB finally does it.
“There are strong chances because Royal Challengers Bengaluru is playing in a different league this year. They’ve defended scores like 150 and 136 at Chinnaswamy, and their bowling unit has stepped up. The new captain has beaten Chennai Super Kings twice–once in Chennai and again at home, which speaks volumes,” Raina said on Star Sports.
Raina further added that the dressing room environment is optimistic, which is a good sign. He feels as though this year, Virat will lift the trophy.
“The dressing room is positive, and these are signs of a team that can go all the way. Yes, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, and Punjab Kings are also doing well, but this might finally be Virat’s year to lift the trophy after 18 years,” he added.
The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League will resume on Saturday, May 17, after a week’s suspension. The first match after resumption is RCB vs KKR at M. Chinnaswamy. RCB need a win over KKR to boost hopes of finishing in the top two of the points table. However, there is rain predicted in Bengaluru and if the match is washed out, there could be a situation where RCB might lose the top two finish to PBKS or GT.
