Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) twice in IPL 2025. These wins pushed CSK out of the playoff race early. The rivalry between these two teams has grown stronger over the years. Big players like Virat Kohli for RCB and MS Dhoni for CSK make the matches exciting and closely followed by fans.

Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa, who played for both RCB and CSK, criticized some RCB fans for their behavior after the recent match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. He said the way they mocked the CSK team was wrong and crossed the line of sportsmanship.

Fans Cross the Line, Says Uthappa

Uthappa shared his thoughts on his YouTube channel. He said, “Outside the stadium, they were mocking the team, the players, when the bus was leaving. That was one thing I saw which I thought was in bad taste.” He added, “I also saw fans fighting with each other. I even saw women being heckled, which felt unsavory, to be very honest.”

He also pointed out that some fans held white T-shirts with black stripes to mock CSK’s two-year IPL ban. Uthappa said, “They have kind of written MS’ number on it and ‘Thala’ under it, showing they were in jail for two years. It’s getting beyond the sport, which concerns me.”

Rivalry Should Stay on the Field

Uthappa urged fans to keep their passion within respect. He said, “At the end of the day, this is a sport. Rivalry is good, but it should never lead to disrespect or violence.” He stressed that cricket should bring people together, not create hostility.

CSK has struggled this season. They won only three out of 12 matches and became the first team to get eliminated from the playoffs. RCB, on the other hand, is doing well with eight wins in 11 games. They currently sit second in the points table and are close to qualifying for the playoffs.

As the IPL 2025 season moves forward, fans hope the competition stays intense but respectful.
