The BCCI named a boardroom at their headquarters in Mumbai after the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. The room is named ‘SRT100’, which highlights the former batter’s achievements. The boardroom was inaugurated by the batter himself.
Tendulkar, in his speech, shared stories of the highs and lows of his cricketing career. He mentioned the low of the 2007 World Cup and the high of the 2011 victory.
A video was shared by BCCI on its social media, which showed Tendulkar inaugurating the boardroom. He was also seen thanking BCCI President Roger Binny, Secretary Devajit Saikia, Vice President Rajeev Shukla and other dignitaries present at the ceremony.
“First of all, thank you so very much to Roger, Saikyaji, Rajiv Rai, and Rohan. Thank you all the BCCI bearers and officials. You won’t believe this is the first time I am seeing like this in real life. Because this is where it all started for me. A room being named after me, it is indeed a very heart-touching moment for me,” Sachin Tendulkar said in a video shared by BCCI.
“What makes it even more special is these priceless trophies. It’s a reflection of what the official bearers, BC bearers and the players have been able to plan and execute that plan, helping the country to achieve this. So these are priceless moments. These are moments where the whole country comes together and celebrate,” he added.
Sachin Tendulkar had an exceptional international career, accumulating 34,357 runs at an average of 48.52. He holds the world record for 100 centuries to his name. Tendulkar is the all-time leading run-scorer in both Test and One Day Internationals, with 15,921 runs in Tests and 18,426 in ODIs. He also holds the record for most centuries in Test cricket (51).
Earlier in the week, the ‘10000 Gavaskar’ boardroom was inaugurated to honour Sunil Gavaskar, another legendary Mumbaikar.
