Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi was mocked by an SRH fan during the fixture on Monday. Rathi’s celebratory send-off was thrown back at him by English cricketer Sam Curran’s doppleganger.

On May 19, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets. However, when LSG’s bowler Digvesh Rathi claimed Abhishek Sharma’s wicket, he celebrated with his trademark send-off. Abhishek got vexed by the gesture and confronted Rathi, leading to a heated exchange between the two.

The two players had an intense altercation on the field, which prompted the umpire to intervene. After the on-field umpire calmed the situation, Abhishek returned to the SRH dugout. However, Rathi’s action came back to haunt him during a later over in the innings.

Australian YouTuber Jake Jeakings is known for his uncanny resemblance to English cricketer Sam Curran. He was present in the stadium on Monday and caught the attention of the crowd when he mocked Rathi by using his signature gesture against him. Jake was seen doing the notebook gesture after Rathi was hit for 3 fours in his final over of the innings by Kamindu Mendis.

The doppleganger has been seen at many fixtures in the 2025 IPL season, supporting different teams. It was humorous to watch someone who looks like Sam Curran do this in support of SRH.

Lucknow Super Giants Eliminated from Playoff Race

Lucknow Super Giants put up a score of 205/7. Mitchell Marsh led the batting front with a 65 off 39 balls, while Aiden Markram slammed 61 off 38 balls. The pacer Eshan Malinga emerged with his impressive figure of 2/28 in his 4 overs.

In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s opener Abhishek Sharma smashes 59 off just 20 deliveries. Heinrich Klaasen took their innings further with his 47 off 28 balls. They completed the chase in 18.2 overs.

For Lucknow, this was a must-win match to keep their playoff hopes alive. They are currently in seventh position in the standings with 10 points in 12 matches.
