Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) left-arm seamer, Fazalhaq Farooqi, has been dropped from their match against Chennai Super Kings. Captain Sanju Samson confirmed the change after he won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Rajasthan Royals dropped Farooqi out of their last match of the Indian Premier League 2025 against Chennai Super Kings. Sanju Samson, during the toss, informed that Yudhvir Singh will play in place of Fazalhaq Farooqi.
“We will bowl first. Looking at the last game against DC, there was something in it. There’s no hiding in this game. We got to do it today. Everyone has to be a match-winner. They have to think like that. We need to be smarter and braver. We have a couple of changes. Yudhvir comes in,” said Samson at the toss.
Although Samson did not actually mention it, it is evident that the reason for Farooqi’s drop is due to his wicketless bowling performance this season.
Farooqi was replaced after giving away 39 runs in his four-over spell in the last fixture against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He has been wicketless throughout the season, having given runs at an economy of 12.35 from five matches.
The Afghanistan seamer has been replaced by right-arm seamer Yudhvir Singh, who last played against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. The 27-year-old took one wicket in three matches in the season so far.
CSK made no changes to their playing XI as they look to continue their winning form from their last match against KKR. The fixture is extremely critical for both CSK and RR as the loser of the match will finish last on the points table.
