Mumbai Indians’ co-owner Nita Ambani was spotted showing six fingers, signaling MI’s ambition to take their sixth title this year. MI became the fourth and final team to qualify in the 2025 playoffs on Wednesday.
Mumbai Indians achieved a commanding 59-run victory over Delhi Capitals on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium. The win took them to 16 points, enough to confirm their place in the top four. The franchise’s co-owner Nita Ambani was clearly delighted with the team’s performance.
As cameras covered the owner’s dugout, Nita Ambani was seen holding six fingers up. By this gesture, she told the world that the five-time winners are coming for the sixth title of the league. Currently tied with Chennai Super Kings on five championships each, a title win this season would make MI with the most title wins.
Nita Ambani, along with her son, Aakash Ambani, was present in the dugout for MI’s crucial match. She celebrated the team’s win and also joined the players for a victory lap around the ground. Rohit Sharma led the lap of honor, showing his gratitude to the fans. He also tossed signed tennis balls into the stand with a tennis racket.
Mumbai Indians marked another turnaround this season. After losing four of their first five matches, the franchise charged through and won seven of their next eight games.
On a difficult pitch that made stroke play challenging, MI was struggling at 132/5 after 18 overs. The duo of Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir came to the team’s rescue. In the last two overs, both combined 48 runs and took Mumbai’s innings to 180 runs.
Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar struck in the early overs, followed by Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah, who took down DC’s middle and lower order. Delhi were bowled out for just 121 in 18.2 overs.
