Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has shared an emotional message for Karun Nair. The latter was selected to play in India A against England, which will be led by Abhimanyu Easwaran.
Right-handed batter Karun Nair has made a comeback with his selection in the India A squad for the England tour. The squad was announced on Friday, and Nair was included after he caught attention for his outstanding domestic performance.
Beginning May 30, India A is set to play two matches against England Lions. The first is in Canterbury from May 30 to June 2. The second is in Northampton from June 6 to 9. An intrasquad match will be played against the senior Indian team from June 13 to 16 in Beckenham.
After getting dropped from Karnataka’s state team in 2022, Nair shared a post on X, saying, “Dear cricket, give me one more chance.”
Following Nair’s selection in the India A squad, former cricketer Irfan Pathan posted a heartfelt message for the 33-year-old batter. The post said, “Karun Nair getting selected for India A is clear indication that Dear cricket will him give him another chance to play for team India again.”
Nair made his debut in 2016 and slammed a record-breaking triple century against England. Despite such a powerful performance, he could not secure a permanent spot in the playing XI. In the end, he could not make it back into the squad.
Following the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Nair returned to public attention. He represented Vidarbha and had an incredible stint with the bat. He scored 779 runs in 8 innings, featuring five centuries.
His remarkable form did not end there. In the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Nair scored 863 runs in nine innings at an average of 53.93. He finished the tournament as the fourth-highest run-scorer.
