IPL 2025 Set To Resume soon; BCCI Plans to call Foreign Players

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to resume around May 15, following a temporary suspension caused by a military conflict between India and Pakistan. With the recent ceasefire in place, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has begun efforts to restart the tournament.

Foreign Players To Return Soon

The military tensions had forced many overseas players to return to their home countries for safety reasons. But now, with the situation stabilising, the BCCI and IPL franchises have started the process of recalling foreign players. According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, franchises are directly contacting players and making travel arrangements after getting clearance from the Indian government.

Teams like Gujarat Titans saw important players like Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee leave the squad earlier. They are now working to bring these players back in time for the restart.

12 League Matches, 4 Playoffs Left

There are still twelve league matches and four playoff games to be played. As per the original schedule:

Ahmedabad will host three matches.
Lucknow and Bengaluru will host two matches each.
Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Jaipur will host one match each.
Hyderabad and Kolkata will host the playoff matches.

The final is expected to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) in Dharamsala was abandoned earlier. It is unclear whether that match will resume from the previous state or be replayed. The BCCI is likely to announce a decision soon.

The BCCI has worked closely with the Indian government and local authorities to ensure the safe return of players and staff. Several franchises have praised the board for its coordination during this difficult time.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), in particular, thanked the BCCI for helping ensure the safe return of their players during the border tensions.

With all preparations in motion, fans can look forward to IPL 2025 resuming in a few days. The action is set to return with full energy and international stars back on Indian soil.
