The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially denied reports that India has withdrawn from the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. Several media outlets claimed India would not take part in the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup in June or the Men’s Asia Cup in September. However, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has called those reports “false and baseless.”

In a clear statement, Saikia said, “The BCCI has not taken any such decision. We have not even discussed withdrawing from the ACC events.” He also confirmed that the board has not written anything to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) about this matter.

BCCI: “No Official Decision Yet on Asia Cup Participation”

Saikia made it clear that the board is focused on the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) and the upcoming home series against England. “Our priority right now is the IPL and the men’s and women’s series against England,” he said.

He further added, “No discussions have taken place at any level about pulling out of the ACC events. Any news suggesting otherwise is purely speculative.”

The BCCI will make an official announcement only if a decision is taken in the future. For now, India remains scheduled to participate in both Asia Cup tournaments.

Reports Link Possible Withdrawal to India-Pakistan Tensions

Earlier, The Indian Express reported that India may not play in tournaments organized by the ACC, which is currently headed by Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The report cited ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan after recent events like the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.

According to that report, a BCCI official claimed that the board had “verbally informed” the ACC of its decision to skip the tournaments. The source also said that India’s future participation in ACC events remains on hold.

However, Saikia dismissed these reports. He confirmed that no such communication has taken place and labeled the news as “imaginary.”

India is also set to host the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in September. As of now, there is no official change in plans.

The BCCI has not withdrawn from the Asia Cup 2025. Reports suggesting otherwise are not true, as confirmed by the BCCI secretary. Fans can expect official news only after formal discussions take place. For now, India’s participation in ACC tournaments remains unchanged.
