After a forgettable IPL 2025 campaign for Rajasthan Royals, where they finished a disappointing 9th on the points table, speculations have begun swirling around the future of one of their key players — Yashasvi Jaiswal. The dynamic left-handed opener was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise underwhelming season for the Royals. Jaiswal amassed 559 runs across the tournament at an impressive average of 43 and a remarkable strike rate of 159.71. Despite his strong personal performance, the team failed to click as a unit, sparking internal questions and external rumours.
The exit chatter around Jaiswal intensified after he posted a seemingly emotional message on Instagram following the Royals’ final game. Originally, he wrote:
“Thank you, Rajasthan Royals, for everything. Not the season we hoped for, but grateful for the journey. On to the next challenge and whatever the future brings. YBJ 65.”
However, within hours, he edited the post to:
“Thank you, Rajasthan Royals, for everything. Not the season we hoped for, but continue to be grateful for our journey together. On to the next challenge and whatever the future brings. YBJ 64.”
While the changes in wording were subtle, the social media world quickly picked up on them, leading to growing speculation about whether Jaiswal was hinting at a departure. Fans and analysts alike are interpreting the term “next challenge” as a possible reference to a switch in franchise or even a broader career move.
This isn’t the first time Jaiswal has found himself at the centre of a transfer rumour. Earlier in the year, he was reportedly considering a move from the Mumbai state team to Goa. Though that move didn’t materialize and he stayed with Mumbai, the discussions highlighted that the young batter is actively evaluating his career direction.
As the Royals go back to the drawing board after another playoff miss, questions will be raised about their retention strategy and squad overhaul. Whether Jaiswal will be part of those plans remains to be seen.
For now, his focus will shift to international duties, as India prepares for a crucial five-match Test series in England. With Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Tests creating a vacancy at the top, Jaiswal is expected to play a central role. Who his opening partner will be is still unknown, but the series could be another opportunity for Jaiswal to solidify his place in India’s red-ball setup.
Whatever the future holds, Jaiswal’s journey is one that fans will be watching closely — both in India colours and potentially in a new IPL jersey.
