Barbadian cricketer Matthew Forde equalled AB de Villiers on Friday by recording the fastest ODI century. The 23-year-old achieved this milestone in the second ODI against Ireland.
Matthew Forde, whose playing role in the team is bowling, hit the fifty in just 16 balls. His record-making knock featured two fours and eight sixes.
Matthew Forde of the West Indies equalled South African star cricketer AB de Villiers’ record of hitting the fastest ODI half-century. He got there in 16 balls against Ireland during the second ODI in Dublin. De Villiers had set the record in 2015, during his 149 off 44 against the West Indies in Johannesburg.
At one point, Forde had the opportunity to break de Villiers’ record. When he was on 42 off 13 balls, he missed a delivery, but the back-to-back sixes off the next two balls levelled him with de Villiers. He eventually scored 58 runs off just 19 balls, with 56 of those runs coming from boundaries alone.
It was also his maiden fifty in international cricket, and it turned out to be more special with him scoring it in just 16 balls.

Carty and Forde Help WI to a Big Total
Keacy Carty scored a century while Matthew Forde scored a fifty to help West Indies post a daunting total of 352/8 in 50 overs.
The West Indies got off to a rocky start as Brandon King and Evin Lewis departed early. Captain Shai Hope and Carty then added 81 runs for the third wicket and balanced their innings. Carty went on to hit his second ODI century, scoring 102 runs off 109 balls.
In the middle overs, WI lost a couple of wickets, with them at 213/5 in the 37th over. However, their lower-order turned the game around by putting on an impressive batting performance.
