A day after announcing his retirement, Virat Kohli and wife Anushka Sharma visited UP’s Vrindavan to seek blessings from Shri Premanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj. The couple has made many spiritual visits in recent years.
Former Indian captain Virat Kohli confirmed his retirement from test cricket on Monday through an emotional post on Instagram. According to reports, he had been contemplating retiring since December 2024.
Following the news of his retirement, many cricketers and famous personalities took to their social media to honour Virat and his career.
Virat Kohli, along with his wife Anushka Sharma, visited Vrindavan to seek blessings from Shri Premanand Govind Sharan Ji Maharaj on Tuesday. Several videos of the couple riding a car in Vrindavan have surfaced on social media. In the video, the couple were seen riding in a local cab, dressed in white clothes and face masks. They were seen stepping out of the car and entering the ashram, without their kids.
The couple visited the Vrindavan Dham to seek blessings from their spiritual guru, Premanand Maharaj, whom they have closely followed over the years. This is not the first time Virat and Anushka have visited the spiritual leader. They have made many spiritual visits in the last few years and regularly attend his satsangs.
On Monday, Virat announced his retirement by sharing the news with his fans on Instagram.
Virat wrote, “It’s been 14 years since I first wore the baggy blue in Test cricket. Honestly, I never imagined the journey this format would take me on. It’s tested me, shaped me, and taught me lessons I’ll carry for life. There’s something deeply personal about playing in whites… I’ve given it everything I had, and it’s given me back so much more than I could’ve hoped for. I’m walking away with a heart full of gratitude… #269, signing off.”
Later, Anushka wrote a special post applauding Virat’s dedication towards the game. She wrote, “They’ll talk about the records and the milestones — but I’ll remember the tears you never showed, the battles no one saw, and the unwavering love you gave this format of the game. I know how much all this took from you. After every Test series, you came back a little wiser, a little humbler — and watching you evolve through it all has been a privilege. Somehow, I always imagined you’d retire international cricket in whites — But you’ve always followed your heart, and so I just want to say my love, you’ve earned every bit of this goodbye”.
