Gujarat Titans’ players Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee are set to join the squad on Wednesday, May 14. Other overseas Rashid Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, Kagiso Rabada and Karim Janat had stayed with the rest of the squad.
The Gujarat Titans have received some good news before the resumption of IPL 2025. Their overseas players, Jos Buttler and Gerald Coetzee, who earlier left India, will return to join the team on May 14.
The Indian Premier League was suspended on May 9 after the PBKS vs DC fixture was stopped midway due to safety concerns. This happened after the rising military tensions between India and Pakistan. With a ceasfire agreement in place, the league will now resume later this week.
The other foreign players, Rashid Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, Kagiso Rabada, and Karim Janat, remained with the rest of the squad in India during the suspension period.
However, Rutherford has been selected in the West Indies ODI squad for a series in England from May 29 to June 3. This will coincide with the playoffs stage.
The IPL has released the changed schedule for the remainder of the tournament. It will feature 13 league matches and 4 playoff matches.
The remaining league phase will be held at six venues – Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
Gujarat Titans stand at the top of the points table with 16 points in 11 matches. Royal Challengers Bengaluru is second with the same points but a lower net run rate.
GT have 3 league matches left this season. They were also the first team to resume their training once the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was announced. They held a three-hour practice session at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 10.
