After a six-year hiatus, the T20 Mumbai League is back and ready to feature fierce competition between franchises. This domestic-based tournament is ready for its third season, with over 280 players in the auction. The auction will take place in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The player pool has been divided into three groups. The first is Senior Player, which includes players who feature in First-Class, List-A, or T20 matches. Then comes the Emerging Player pool, which includes cricketers who have represented Mumbai at the U-23 or U-19 level in the last three years. The third is the Development Player pool, comprising talented local and club-level players.
The base prices are set at Rs 5 Lakh for Senior players, Rs 3 Lakh for Emerging players, and Rs 2 Lakh for Development players. Icon players have been signed at a fixed price of Rs 20 Lakh.
The teams are required to have four senior players, five emerging players, and five development players in their final squad of a minimum of 18 members.
The tournament, featuring 8 teams, will take place at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from May 26 to June 8.
“This exciting player pool reflects the depth and quality of talent that Mumbai cricket has to offer. It features a remarkable mix of emerging stars and established names, giving franchises great options to build competitive squads.
As we aim to uncover and promote the next generation of Indian cricket superstars, the auction will be a game-changer, not just for the teams but for the players who are eager to make their mark on this grand stage. The T20 Mumbai League will set a new benchmark in domestic T20 cricket,” said Abhay Hadap, Secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
