Punjab Kings defeated Mumbai Indians on Monday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. After the match, PBKS’s captain and MI’s senior batter Rohit Sharma were seen catching up.
The two met following Punjab Kings’ 7-wicket win, which secured them a spot in the top two. Shreyas Iyer smashed the winning shot for Punjab as they sealed their place in Qualifier 1, giving them two shots at making it to the final.
After the match, Rohit and Iyer met, where the former imitated the Punjab skipper’s walking style. They were also seen hugging during the playful exchange.
Mumbai Indians, another team in the 2025 playoffs, shared a video on their social media featuring Rohit. It showed the ‘shana’ side of the senior batter.
Meanwhile, Mumbai finished the league stage in fourth position, meaning they will play their do-or-die Eliminator match on May 30.
Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians have qualified for the playoffs. PBKS secured a place in Qualifier 1 to be played on May 29. Both teams in qualifier 1 will get two shots at making it to the final.
Mumbai, batting first, posted a target of 185 runs for PBKS to chase. Despite a slow start in the powerplay, Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis’s 109-run partnership helped them chase in just 18.3 overs. Arya’s 62 off 35 and Inglis’ 73 off 42 won them the game.
Punjab Kings will travel back to their home ground in Mullanpur for Qualifier 1. They will face either the Royal Challengers Bengaluru or the Lucknow Super Giants on May 29.
