The Iceland Cricket, based on the worst performances of this season, created a playing XI and named it the “IPL frauds and scammers team”.
Iceland Cricket put out a post on their official social media handle and shocked the entire IPL community. Known for sharing blunt posts on cricket matters, they shared another absurd post on this IPL season. Referring to the worst performances this year, they picked a playing XI and an impact player and called it “IPL frauds and scammers team”.
The team consisted of 12 players: five from Chennai Super Kings, two from Sunrisers Hyderabad, and one each from Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Kolkata Knight Riders.
The team included two of the most expensive buys in IPL history: Venkatesh Iyer (INR 23.75 Crore) and Rishabh Pant (INR 27 Crore). They named Pant the captain and wicketkeeper of the team.
CSK’s Rahul Tripathi and Rachin Ravindra were listed as openers, while Pant and Ishan Kishan completed the top order. Glenn Maxwell and Liam Livingstone, along with Iyer, formed the middle-order. Deepak Hooda completed the batting lineup as the finisher.
The bowling lineup consisted of one expert spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin and two fast bowlers – Matheesha Pathirana and Mohammed Shami. Mukesh Kumar was added as the 12th man.
The captioned the post on X: “On a rain day in Reyjavík, we give you our IPL 2025 frauds and scammers team: R Tripathi, R Ravindra, I Kishan, R Pant (c & wk), V Iyer, G Maxwell, L Livingstone, D Hooda, R Ashwin, M Pathirana, M Shami; No impact player: M Kumar.”
Pant and Iyer were two of the costliest buys of the season, and as happened many times before, the pressure of their price tag got to them. Venkatesh Iyer, who was named the vice captain of KKR, only managed to score 142 runs in 11 innings. Pant scored only 128 in 11 innings at a strike rate of 99.22.
Coincidentally, both their teams are fighting to make it to the playoffs. Both teams have 5 wins in 11 matches, although KKR is ahead by one place, owing to a draw against PBKS.
