Mustafizur Rahman Replaces Fraser-McGurk in DC Squad for IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals signed Mustafizur Rahman as Jake Fraser-McGurk has decided to opt out of the remainder of the IPL 2025. The left-arm medium pacer has joined DC for INR 6 Crore.

Australian batter Jake Fraser McGurk has opted out of the Indian Premier League due to the ongoing Indo-Pak tensions. To replace him, Delhi Capitals have brought on Bangladesh cricketer Mustafizur Rahman. Fraser-McGurk had returned home, with the suspension of IPL 2025, following the cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.

“The JSW and GMR co-owned franchise Delhi Capitals today announced the signing of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for Australian opener Jake Fraser-McGurk, who will be unavailable for the remainder of the TATA IPL 2025 season,” the franchise stated in a release.

Mustafizur’s Previous IPL Seasons

The pacer previously played for Delhi in 2022 and 2023, has experience in bowling in the death overs. He took 8 wickets in 8 matches in 2022 with an economy of 7.62. He featured in only 2 games in 2023.

In his IPL career, he has played 38 games and taken 38 wickets, with an economy of 7.84. He has a reputation for controlling the game at both ends of the innings. In international cricket, he has 132 wickets in 106 matches for Bangladesh.

Mustafizur’s entry in the team could also indicate that Australian pacer Mitchell Stark may not return for the rest of the season. It was reported by Australia’s Nine that Starc is likely to opt out of the remainder of the 2025 edition.

DC vs PBKS

The match between DC and PBKS was called off midway due to air raid alerts in Dharamsala. The entire stadium was evacuated due to safety concerns. This incident happened after the military conflict between India and Pakistan escalated. As a result, the league was suspended for a week and most overseas players flew back home.

The interrupted match will be played again at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Saturday, 24 May.
