India A Squad Finalized for England Clash: Jaiswal, Kishan Included

Ajit Agarkar has reportedly finalised India’s 14 players squad for the first test against England Lions on May 30. The BCCI is set to send two separate India A teams to avoid clashes with the revised schedule of the IPL.

According to The Indian Express, “The national selection panel headed by Ajit Agarkar has picked a 14-member squad for the first match, including players whose involvement in the T20 league ended in the league stage.”

With the extension of IPL 2025, a 14 member squad will be sent for the first match and then a second batch will fly down for the second match.

India’s confirmed opener to play in the five-test series against England, Yashasvi Jaiswal, is set to be part of the first batch on India A. As his IPL team Rajasthan Royals has no chance of making it to the playoffs, he will play the first match from May 30.

Another name confirmed for the India A squad is Ishan Kishan. The left-hand keeper-batter will return to tests after a year and a half. His IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad is out of playoffs contention too. Dhruv Jurel, who was part of the team during the Border Gavaskar Series, will give tough competition to Kishan for the wicket keeper role.

Among others, all-rounder Shardul Thakur will also make his test return as part of the A squad. Bengal opener Abhimanya Easwaran, all-rounders Nitish Kumar Reddy, and pacer Anshul Kamboj are also likely to feature for the A team.

India A vs England Lions

India A will face England Lions in two matches. The first will be held from May 30 to June 2 with the next match from June 6 to 9. The final match will be an intra-squad match from June 13 to 16. These matches will serve as warm-up for India’s five-test series that begins from June 20.
