Lucknow Super Giants opener Mitchell Marsh moved up to the fourth position in the IPL 2025 Orange Cap standings. With his maiden IPL hundred, Marsh improved his position in the highest run-getters list for the tournament.
Australian cricketer Mitchell Marsh scored his first century in the Indian Premier League against Gujarat Titans on Thursday. He reached the 100 mark in 56 deliveries with his knock including ten fours and eight sixes. He helped Lucknow get a powerful start before getting dismissed at 117 off 64 balls by Arshad Khan.
The 33-year-old was adjudged the Player of the Match for his stunning knock. He became the first overseas player to hit a century this season. Marsh also became the 11th Australian player to register a three-digit score in the tournament, with his brother Shaun Marsh being the first.
Gujarat Titans’ opening pair, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill hold the top two spots in the Orange Cap table. Sudharsan is leading the table with 638 runs in 13 innings, with Gill just two runs away from his teammate.
Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav as of now sits at the third position in the highest run-scorer list. He has 583 runs from 13 innings with an impressive strike rate of 170.
Mitchell Marsh, who scored his first hundred in the league, moved up the standings in a big way. His outstanding 117 off 64 knock helped him move up to fourth place in the Orange Cap list. Marsh took his total to 560 runs in 12 innings.
Lucknow Super Giants defeated Gujarat Titans by 33 runs at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 22. They got off to a stunning start with Marsh’s 117 off 64 and Nicholas Pooran’s 56 off 27 balls.
GT started off well too, with Jos Buttler hitting big shots. But LSG’s bowler Will O’Rourke restricted GT’s innings to 202 by claiming three crucial wickets.
With this defeat, Gujarat missed their chance to get in the top two to get two shots at making it to the final. They can still do so by winning against CSK.
