Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis are set to boost Punjab Kings (PBKS) as they prepare for the final leg of IPL 2025. According to reports from PTI’s Bharat Sharma, both players will be available for PBKS’ last two league matches, giving the team a timely advantage ahead of the playoffs.
The IPL 2025 season is resuming on May 17 after a brief break. Several teams are facing challenges with players leaving due to international commitments. However, Punjab Kings have received a major boost with Stoinis and Inglis confirming their availability for the last phase of the league stage.
Earlier, there were mixed reports about their participation. Some sources claimed all foreign PBKS players would stay for the rest of the season, while others said Stoinis and Inglis might not return. But head coach Ricky Ponting played a crucial role in convincing the Australian duo to return to India.
They will miss the upcoming match against Rajasthan Royals, but are expected to be available for the last two league matches. This could be key as PBKS are in a strong position on the points table.
Josh Inglis, who is part of Australia’s squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, may return to Australia after PBKS complete their league matches. His early exit will be a slight concern, but the team will hope to make full use of his presence before he departs.
In contrast, Marcus Stoinis has no international commitments immediately after the IPL. PBKS will hope he stays with the squad till the end, especially if they qualify for the playoffs.
Punjab Kings currently have 15 points from 11 matches and are well-placed to secure a playoff spot. Along with Stoinis and Inglis, most of their overseas players are available till the league stage. Only Aaron Hardie remains unavailable.
Injury replacements have also been handled well. Kyle Jamieson and Mitchell Owen have joined the squad in place of injured Lockie Ferguson and Glenn Maxwell.
With key players returning and smart signings made, PBKS appear strong heading into the final stretch of IPL 2025.
